Storyteller Brendan Nolan

We were very lucky to have a storyteller visit our school this week. Brendan Nolan from Heritage in schools Ireland came and entertained us with stories about witches, ghosts, giants and much more in time for Hallowe'en. We really enjoyed having him to visit. We also found that we have some budding storytellers of our own here in St. John of God! Have a look at the pictures below.

We have had a very busy September!

A very warm welcome back to school everyone and a most special welcome to the girls new to our school.

Since our return, we have been very busy.

Skippy John came to visit our school and taught us all to skip. We learned now to single skip, partner skip and group skip. We have been very busy practising on the yard with our lovely new ropes ever since.

Our Home School Liaison Teacher, Aisling Gleeson, organised a lovely food tasting day for us for Healthy Eating week. We got the chance to taste all sorts of fruits and vegetables, including a pomegranate which is an important fruit here in St. John of God, it can be found on our school crest!

The girls in 1st and 2nd class have been taking part in Science for Fun lessons every Tuesday for the past number of weeks. So far they have carried out experiemnts investigating magnetism, made paper helicopters, created static electricity, made boats from marla, investigated objects that float and sink and much more. A big thank you to the parents who came in to do the experiments and to Ms. Gleeson for her organising.

September has been a great month and we are looking forward to an even busier October. Remember to check in regularly to your daughter's class page for more updates and some photos.
